BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS TRANSLATION

This new translation attempts to convey all of the subtleties of meanings in the  original Ottoman Turkish manuscripts of The Risale-i Nur Corpus, which is the commentary of the meanings of the Qur'an.

The translation process of this diligently prepared work can be summarised under four main stages:

1-Translation: The translation committee that is made up of experts in the Ottoman Turkish, English and Arabic languages, as well as the Islāmic sciences.

2-Editorial Meetings: The meanings of the original texts are compared line-by-line, word-by-word and even dot-by-dot with the English translation by our editorial board. The expertise and meticulous editing and commenting of numerous writers, theologians and Nursīan scholars as well as of professional Risāle practitioners and readers make this translation a humble success. This leg of the publishing process is the most laborious part of the project.

3-Post-Editorial Proofreading: These meticulous and many subtle suggestions sent by the editorial board are finally added into the translated texts by the translators without interrupting the literary style of the text.

4-Final Stage: After the third process of additions and corrections, our language editors read and send their feedback and their amendments and proposals are put into the text in the  final form of the text.

Along with the precision in translation quality, our translation has been sensitive to the original categorisation of Imam Bediuzzaman Said Nursi in his books as well. For example, Imam Nursi compiled some of the epistles that he selected from his major books, The Words (Sözler), The Letters (Mektubat), The Flashes (Lemalar) and The Rays (Şualar) into the books The Staff of Moses (‘Asâ-yı Mûsâ), Dhu’l-fiqār, The Lamp of the Light (Sirāju’n-Nūr), The Confirming Stamp from the Unseen (Sikke-i Tasdik-i Ğaybī), and The Mysteries (Tılsımlar). For this reason, our translation has been prepared by paying attention to the original classification of the epistles by Imam Bediuzzaman Said Nursi in the original Ottoman Turkish manuscripts. Thus, this work has been presented to the public benefit in accordance with its full originality. The Quranic verses, hadith narrations, Arabic and Persian proverbs as well as Islamic references are kept in their original form along with the translation to give the reader an opportunity to experience the real taste of the work and have an open window to smell its original fragrance.

We are humbled to present this magnum opus in the online realm now. We would be extremely happy to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to share your feedback, corrections and suggestions with us if you find any.

We are well aware that if there are any mistakes in this work, they are ours, if there are any instances of good, they are from Allah.

May Allah be pleased with this new translation, all that worked for it and all that will read and benefit from it. Ameen.
